Onderstaande mededeling schokte mij bijzonder toen ik vanmorgen mijn mail ophaalde.

Ik ken Sam al vanaf de Libertarische Wereldconventie in Noorwegen 1984. Toen al was Sam een bekend “links-libertariër”. Een aanduiding die ik nooit echt begrepen heb. Volgens mij ben je libertariër, of je bent het niet. Sam was echte zachtaardige anarchist, die ik nooit anders gezien heb dan ik zijn zwarte broek en zwart shirt, of in een zwart kostuum.

Onlangs correspondeerden we nog over de mogelijkheid of hij naar de Europese Libertarische L I conventie in LEIDEN zou kunnen komen!

Ik en vele anderen zullen hem missen.

Samuel Edward Konkin III died at his home in Los Angeles this weekend, presumably of natural causes. His family has been notified and a memorial service is being planned. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve taken over as moderator of this list (had to update an obsolete email address), and will keep the list active as long as there is interest.

  1. Ik herinner mij de lange haren van Sam in Beitostoelen in 1985.

    Het was aldaar dat ik de enige catalogus kreeg van Loompanics Unlimited die ik ooit in de hand gehad heb (en op basis waarvan ik ooit boeken heb gekocht – een van die boeken, The Outlaw’s Bible, was dedicated to the cops who, vervolgde de dedicacering, will not be referred to as the pigs out of respect for the animal species).

    Ik associeerde Sam met Loompanics.

    Bij nazicht van de web update van die bookstore, blijkt dat Sam, niettegenstaande zijn lange haren, inderdaad in het gezelschap van Murray Rothbard, Tibor Machan en Ayn Rand thuishoort.
